ABOUT US
Civic Shield was founded by active law enforcement officers who saw firsthand how easily personal information can be accessed and exploited online. After years of handling cases involving identity theft, harassment, stalking, and targeted threats, they recognized a growing risk: public servants face unique dangers when their personal information is widely available.
Today, home addresses, family details, and phone numbers can be found in seconds. For public officials and government employees, that exposure is not just inconvenient — it can be dangerous. Across the country, harassment, intimidation, and even attacks at private residences are increasing.
Civic Shield was created to address this escalating threat. Public officials should not have to put their own safety — or their families’ safety — on the line.

OUR MISSION
Our mission is to provide comprehensive data removal services for public sector professionals — including law enforcement, first responders, government employees, educators, and municipal leaders — helping them protect their privacy and their families.
We address the risks posed by public records, data brokers, and people-finder sites by proactively removing sensitive information, reducing digital footprints, and monitoring for re-exposure.
With investigative expertise, operational discipline, and strict confidentiality, we deliver professional, discreet privacy protection tailored to those who serve their communities.
What is a Data Broker?
Data brokers are companies that gather vast amounts of personally identifiable information (PII) and compile it into detailed profiles about individuals. These profiles can contain sensitive data such as Social Security numbers, dates of birth, current and previous addresses, and other personal detailss leo.
I never share any personal info online. How do these Data Brokers get my info?
Even if you personally never “share your info”, Data Brokers can still build profiles about you from many indirect sources. Here’s how it typically happens.
What websites do you remove my private information from?
Civic Shield deletes personal information from both private and public databases, commonly referred to as people-search websites. You can view the complete list of these databases here.
On average, a customer appears on at least half of these people-search websites, though this can vary significantly based on factors such as your privacy habits, how often you’ve moved, your age, and whether you’ve previously completed removals.
We focus our efforts on sites where your information is both present and easily discoverable, particularly those that actively collect and share personal data. We avoid targeting people-search sites where your information cannot be found or is not publicly accessible, as providing additional details to those sites could create unnecessary risk.
In addition, we’ve identified several major data brokers that maintain extensive personal records on nearly everyone and distribute that information broadly to other businesses, even if they are not publicly searchable. We submit opt-out requests to these key brokers, but we do not pursue blanket opt-outs with smaller, lower-impact data brokers
How is my personal information online?
Data brokers scan the internet to collect information and use it to assemble detailed profiles about individuals. They pull this data from government and public records, information people share about themselves, social media platforms, and even other data broker companies.
How do you keep my information off?
Once your personal information has been removed from the internet, Civic Shield will keep monitoring the web for any new listings that include your private details. If your information appears again—and it often does—the company will promptly submit another removal request. Ongoing monitoring and repeat removal efforts are provided for as long as your account remains active.
After signing up, how long does it take for my profiles to be removed?
Some data brokers process removal requests within 24 hours, while others may take weeks—or even months—to respond. Every situation is different, but we are continually working to make the process as efficient as possible for you.
In the interest of full transparency, securing opt-outs from hundreds of data brokers can feel like a game of “whack-a-mole.” New listings can appear over time, and it’s uncommon for every single instance of your information to disappear within just a few weeks or months. If your expectation is immediate and total removal across the entire internet, our service may not be the right fit, as we want to be clear about what’s realistically achievable.
Customer satisfaction and the protection of your personal data remain our highest priorities. That said, Civic Shield is highly effective at removing the majority of exposed profiles on an ongoing basis, and most of our customers are very satisfied with their results.
How does Civic Shield opt out on my behalf?
Civic Shield contacts numerous data brokers on your behalf and submits opt-out requests to have your personally identifiable information (PII) removed from their databases. Our “humans + technology” model blends advanced automation with experienced privacy specialists, allowing us to achieve a higher volume of successful removals than other services in the industry.
Will Civic Shield ever sell my private information?
Absolutely not. LEO Web Protect Inc. is owned and operated by law enforcement professionals who understand—and insist on—the highest standards of privacy. Your information is shared only when necessary to facilitate its removal, never to contribute to further exposure. Our mission is to reduce your digital footprint, not add to it.
